Synthesis and final recommendations on the development of a European Information System for Organic Markets

(September 2006) The final report from EISfOM summarises the most relevant findings of the project and suggest ways in which organic data collection and processing systems (DCPS) can be improved by means of:

  • Improvement in the current situation of data collecting and processing systems for the organic sector
  • Innovation in data collection and processing systems for the organic sector
  • Integration of conventional and organic data collection and processing systems

Towards a European framework for organic market information

(December 2005) The second EISFOM Seminar "Towards a European framework for organic market information" took place on 10 and 11 November 2005 in Brussels.

At the seminar, a draft framework for a European Information System for Organic Markets was discussed and defined. Based on the recommendations of the EISFOM project, the aim of the seminar was to define a framework for a European Information System for Organic Markets.

The seminar proceedings have now been published. The proceedings provide the papers presented, covering farm production, farm financial data, prices, consumers/consumption and supply balances/international trade.

The proceedings can be downloaded from this page. A printed copy may be ordered from the FiBL shop.

The individual papers presented at the seminar are available at the EISfOM member network. The seminar programme is still available at the seminar homepage.

New Initiatives for Organic Market Data

(September 2005) "We have examined the current state of organic market data in detail and looked in particular at innovative approaches in some countries. Now we are in a position to make concrete proposals for the future which, with the support of stakeholders, should set the framework for the development of organic farming statistics as part of the European organic action plan for food and farming. The November seminar provides a real opportunity for stakeholders, statistical agencies and the European Commission to come together and debate the way forward".

Nic Lampkin, co-ordinator EISfOM

Report on the evaluation of pilot case studies
